Briefing — Vol. I / 2026
A Specialist Practice

We help private
investigators
dominate Google.

Private investigator SEO services from a focused practice. No paid ads, no bloated retainers, no generalist agency that thinks a PI firm is the same as a plumbing client.

A diagnostic.

Read the four below. If three of them describe your firm, the rest of this page is worth your next ten minutes.

01

You are losing cases to directories.

Thumbtack and Yelp outrank your firm in your own city. Forcing you to compete on price instead of expertise. Every case routed through a directory is one you trained someone else to win.

02

Your map pack ranking is invisible.

When an attorney or a worried spouse searches “private investigator near me,” your competitors appear first. The map pack accounts for nearly 60% of local clicks, and you are not in it.

03

You have been burned by generalist agencies.

You paid a marketing firm that didn't understand state licensing requirements, the YMYL nature of investigations, or the difference between an asset search and a skip trace. The retainer ran out. Nothing changed.

04

Your case flow is unpredictable.

Referrals are flattering, but they are not a business model. Without a predictable pipeline of high-intent inquiries, you are always one quiet month away from a staffing decision you don't want to make.

They didn't pitch us. They diagnosed us. Within four months we were fielding the corporate surveillance work we'd been chasing for years.

“I've worked with three agencies before this. InvestigatorSEO is the first one that understood the difference between an asset search and a skip trace.”

Sarah L.

“The exclusivity policy sealed it for me. I am not training my competitors with the same playbook.”

Industry agency average is 7.4 months. We don't ask for long-term contracts because we don't need them.

Questions
we hear.

How long does SEO take for a private investigation firm?

Most clients see meaningful ranking movement inside 45–60 days, with measurable lead-volume changes around month three or four. Highly competitive metros (Los Angeles, Houston, NYC) take longer. We'll tell you up front in your audit what to expect.

How is this different from running Google Ads?

Google Ads stops the moment you stop paying. SEO compounds. Equally important: Google Ads has strict policy limits on many PI categories (infidelity, background checks, surveillance) that organic search bypasses entirely.

Do I need a brand-new website?

Usually no. If your site is on a modern CMS (WordPress, Webflow, Squarespace) and isn't fundamentally broken, we work with what you have. If it's a 2014 Wix site held together with hope, we'll tell you, and we'll only recommend a rebuild when it's the bottleneck.

What cities and service areas can you help me rank in?

Anywhere in the United States where the city isn't already taken by another client of ours. We work nationwide, with deep experience in legal-corridor metros and high-net-worth suburbs.

How does the “one client per city” policy actually work?

If we work with you in Phoenix, we will not accept another PI firm targeting Phoenix. We can't ethically rank two competitors for the same #1 spot, and we won't pretend otherwise. When a city is gone, it's gone.

What if SEO isn't right for my firm?

We will tell you. If you have a four-week pipeline problem, SEO is the wrong tool. If your firm operates almost exclusively on attorney referrals and you're happy with that, we'll say so. The audit is honest because the relationship has to be.

Do you work with PI firms outside the United States?

Currently no. Our compliance expertise state licensing, advertising restrictions, evidence handling is US-specific. Engaging us for international work would be doing you a disservice.

What does the free audit actually include?

A written brief covering: technical health, current rankings for your top 25 commercial terms, your three closest local competitors and what they're doing differently, your Google Business Profile status, and a prioritized list of changes ranked by impact. Plus a 30-minute call to walk through it.
